The A.I. Revolution

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is currently thriving as an extension of Human Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence has truly revolutionized the world we live in, and AI is now running through society’s veins, powering our daily lives with a heretofore unimaginable force that most would have conceived as a wild impossibility just a mere ten years ago.

AI is here to stay.

 AI in our daily lives

Recommendation algorithms are suggesting products on Amazon, videos on Netflix and YouTube, and music on Spotify. Assignment algorithms are pairing up drivers and passengers on Uber and Lyft, and potential soulmates on Tinder and Match.com. Voice and music recognition algorithms are powering our personal assistants Siri and Alexa, and identifying music with Shazam. Autocorrect and QuickPath algorithms are helping us type our iMessages, while Grammarly’s grammar correction logic is fine-tuning our articles. Autocomplete algorithms are speeding up our Google searches and accelerating our programming editors. Furthermore, Tesla’s autopilot software is increasing safety and reducing fatigue, and it is on the verge of eliminating the need for a human driver altogether, unlocking unimaginable commercial possibilities. These are just mere examples of how Artificial Intelligence has already been ingrained into our everyday lives.

Artificial Intelligence is also transforming how businesses are run behind the scenes, leading to unparalleled increases in efficiency, product quality, and profit margins.

AI in Business

In finance, Wall Street’s hedge funds are predicting earnings and stock prices by applying AI to alternative data sources (such as location data, credit card data, and satellite imagery). In marketing, customer data is collected and analyzed, allowing AI to increase conversion rates by optimizing web advertising’s target audiences, and optimizing profits by dynamically setting prices. In manufacturing, AI is deployed to optimize robotic work, perform quality control, and predict maintenance. In customer service, AI is helping retain customers, by analyzing customer behavior and raising alarms of sentiment shifts during customer service chat sessions. In human resources, AI is speeding up the recruitment process by helping assess and eventually select candidates. Likewise, AI is increasing employee retention by predicting which personnel are about to resign. Finally, in international organizations, project-specific AI has been deployed to fight poverty, advise countries on public health measures, and promote peacekeeping worldwide.

The transition into a new AI-powered world has only just begun. As hardware, academic research, and awareness in the industry continue to progress, AI will only become more ubiquitous and powerful in the coming years, further increasing our quality of life and fueling the economy.

The future is bright with AI.
