Introduction

Prof. Anasse Bari is an award-winning professor of Computer Science at New York University’s prestigious Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, where he leads a multidisciplinary data science research group conducting research on applied Artificial Intelligence and Predictive Analytics. Every year, Prof. Bari introduces more than 300 students to AI and Predictive Analytics’ most relevant techniques and applications.

 


Research

Prof. Bari’s academic research covers a wide array of applications of Artificial Intelligence. Most recently, his work on engineering an AI tools for predicting the severity of COVID-19 cases has been impactful, well-received, and prominently featured on various television and online news outlets. In addition, Prof. Bari is conducting fundamental research in the field of nature-inspired algorithms, wherein he has published groundbreaking work on Swarm Intelligence and its applications in many fields, including finance, marketing, healthcare, and education.


Books & Publications

Prof. Bari is the lead author of the bestselling and critically acclaimed book “Predictive Analytics for Dummies.” Since its release in 2017, Predictive Analytics for Dummies has been ranked among Amazon’s top search results, and has been translated into German, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese. In addition to this quintessential text, Prof. Bari is a columnist at the Hill. Prof. Bari has also been featured in The Washington Post, detailing the research he did on applying Natural Language Processing — a branch of AI—  to understand what people desire on Twitter. Additionally, Prof. Bari is the author of several IEEE, Springer, and ACM publications on research in the predictive analytics field.

Prof. Bari has a storied track record of helping businesses both large and small and international organizations in their efforts to utilize Artificial Intelligence to improve their performance and efficiency. Prof. Bari has taken on a multitude of roles, including Strategic Advisor, Chief Data Scientist, Researcher, Executive/Technical Coach, and Keynote Speaker. Noteworthy collaborators of Prof. Bari include, but are not limited to: Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg, Pfizer, Maersk, the World Bank, the United Nations, Pfizer, and the United States Congress.


Grants & Awards

Prof. Bari has received several high-profile grants, including but not limited to a Fulbright Award, an Amazon AI Research Award grant for his research on “Predictive Analytics and AI for Social Good”, the Pioneer Research Grant, and the NYU Provost’s COVID-19 Research Mega Catalyst Grant.

In addition, Bari has won several awards at the World Bank, George Washington University (GWU), Georgetown University, and New York University. In 2013, Bari won the World Bank Group Spot Award for “Extraordinary Services to the Organization”. In 2014,  Bari won the “Best Computer Science Professor of the Year” award at GWU. In 2015,  Bari was nominated for the United States Professor of the Year award at Carnegie Academy for Science Education. In 2020, Bari was awarded the Samuel L. Marateck Prize for Outstanding Teaching in Computer Science. Most recently, in 2022, Bari won the Golden Dozen Award for his outstanding research and contribution to the classroom.
